LIAM PHILLIPS IN WINNING FORM AT UCI BMX SUPERCROSS WORLD CUP MANCHESTER
Liam Phillips brought it home for Great Britain, winning the opening round of the 2015 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre today (19/4).

The crowd was behind the Olympian and 2014 World Cup winner as he took the race in a nail-biting elite men’s final. It took just 28.602 seconds for the Great Britain BMX Team rider to secure his place on the podium.

Fellow Brit Tre Whyte, who performed consistently over two days of competition to qualify for the crowning race, crashed out before the finish, as did current UCI Men’s Elite World Champion, Australia’s Sam Willoughby.

It was 2014 women’s World Cup winner, Caroline Buchanan, who cinched the win for Australia in the women’s elite finals after her main competition, Colombia’s Mariana Pajon, arrived fourth from a disappointing start. USA’s Alise Post took second place.

Charlotte Green and Kyle Evans both lost out in the semi-finals, with Quillan Isidore upset by crashes in a high-stakes UCI BMX Supercross World Cup field.
